A repair will help reduce your carbon footprint and won’t cost the earth!

Despite this, the world’s carbon footprint is still increasing each year. Two of the main causes of carbon emissions are plastic usage and energy consumption. In relevance to our company, it is the latter of the two that is the key problem. Not only for us but for the entire coffee industry.

Today there is a huge focus on trying to reduce carbon emissions. We want to encourage the repair and not replacement of coffee equipment.

Why Does Coffee-Making Increase Your Carbon Footprint?

The act of coffee-making increases carbon emissions more than any other process in the coffee industry. it is the main reason why coffee has such a high carbon footprint. A commercial espresso machine uses around 15,000 kWh per year. An average UK home only uses around 3,700 kWh per year!

It is crazy to think that this colossal amount of energy consumption can come from just one espresso machine! This shows that when using an espresso machine, you should ensure its only switched on whilst in use. If you own a espresso machine, you could reduce the amounts of times that it is being used to improve your carbon footprint. Coffee machines typically use a lot of energy just to heat a small amount of water.

Ways We Can Decrease Our Carbon Footprint

There are many ways that you can decrease your carbon footprint when it comes to coffee machines. One of the most surprising ways would be to use less milk. Milk represents around 60 to 70% of the total carbon emissions from a cup of coffee. For a latte, the number goes up to in between 80 to 90%!

Turning your machine off remains the most effective way of reducing your energy consumption. This will also reduce unnecessary wear and tear and help our machine can last longer. Most espresso machines in the home are only used around 1-3 times a day.

How we can help you reduce your carbon footprint

At Espresso @ Home, we strive to reduce our carbon emissions. When the time comes who not opt for a repair in your home, rather than shipping it to a workshop or replacing it entirely?

We love to see espresso machines up and running again!

A back to base repair is much more environmentally damaging than one that takes place in your home.

A traditional approach to equipment repair may see you being asked to ship your machine somewhere else, for it to then be repaired remotely and returned to you.

At the same time you may well be offered a replacement espresso machine that will make the reverse journey to that of your machine that has ‘travelled’ for repair. The image below show how many journeys your machine (and perhaps its temporary replacement), could make during a back to base repair.

We also offer a 6-month warranty for all parts fitted during during a coffe machine repair.

In addition to this, we also offer a free health check on your machine to make sure that it is working and has no hidden problems with it.
